Rennu's Reading Recipes Level 2 lessons should begin after a student has completed & mastered the 52 lessons in Rennu's Reading Recipes Level 1. After learning the single sounds of consonants and short vowels, the student is now ready to take on the challenge of blending consonants and double vowels. In this group of lessons, your child will learn to confidently blend 2 or 3 consonants together. Each new word learned is accompanied with an image and a simple sentence to understand the meaning of the word learned and master the vocabulary. Your child will be reading, speaking & writing fluently in no time and will surprise you as they begin to read chapter books understanding what they are reading. Make sure to complete the accompanying worksheets with each lesson to reinforce what is being learned. The worksheets will emphasize consonant blends and encourage the decoding and spelling of words with blends The worksheets will also reinforce phonemic awareness and the concept of rhymes.

Consonant clusters or blends, are the names given to two or three consonants that appear together in a word. Each consonant retains its sound when blended. The term cluster refers to the written form and the term blend refers to the spoken form. The worksheets will emphasize consonant blends and encourage the decoding and spelling of words with blends The worksheets will also reinforce phonemic awareness and the concept of rhymes. For effective results, make sure you complete the lessons in the numerical order presented without skipping any lessons. It is highly recommended you spend 2 weeks on each lessons and complete the assessment worksheet at the end of each lesson before you proceed to the next lessons.
